Kookaburra Woman
Kookaburra Woman is the truth seeker and the truth teller — the one whose call breaks through illusion and announces the terrain of what must come next. After the deep dive into devourance, after the bones have been stripped and the underworld has spoken, she arrives with her unmistakable cackle, rippling through all realms: above, below, and centre.
Her laughter is not one of lightness but a wise knowing — a sound that clears the air, marks the boundaries and invites us to step into our own truth with courage. She prepares us for the journey ahead, calling us into alignment, into power, into the centred place from which expression can rise.
Kookaburra Woman teaches voice — the brave and embodied kind, a companion to remind us that truth is a territory, and claiming it is a rite of passage.
The Call
She throws her head back
to drink in the light of the stars
to feed from the blood of the moon
Laughter tears and sadness cries
flows from her silken eyes,
diamond rapids down her cheeks and spine
All. Wide. Open
Her mouth.
Her heart.
Her wings.
Receiving the Call from beyond
She hears them cackling her Name
Kooka, Kooka,
Mother of the Sky
Kooka, Kooka,
Sister of the Wind
Kooka, Kooka, Koo KA KA
Oh Woman of the Deep
Who has flown all terrains,
Soared all realms
above, below and centre
Diving in and out and through
Wading out of the Stormy Dark
and cutting through the Blinding Light
The One who can hold the holy flames in her lap
Fuelling the embers with her ancient breath,
Thick smoke furls around her breasts
She Descends
Swoops down, plunging to the ground
Digging into the Deep, where all of it lays
She devours, devours it all
Every piece
And the taste of truth pervades her bones
flavours of sweetened muddy ash
She savours this moment,
Her feathered arms tenderly brushing the hallowed earth beneath
She throws her head back
and takes it all in,
which seems like a thousand years long…….
Kooka, Kooka
Her unwavering presence is broken,
broken by the Call
Kooka, Kooka
She rises from her prayer mat
Her body emerges broad and full
a sweeping circle of dirt and leaves
twirl and spin and pull
She flies
She flies
Kooka, Kooka
Nothing can contain the vastness of her Love
the loyalty of her hinterland heart
Kooooo-KA, Koooo-KA, she replies
Her voice creates and dissolves universes
For she was born out of the Deep
Birthed from the blood of the Moon
and the light of the Stars
The Song in her Throat
Oh Mother Isis! I hear your Call
Koo ka ka!
I am given life by the song in your throat
and the unfurling rose in your heart
Koo ka ka!
I am given breath by the fire in your belly
And the prayers spiraling in your womb
Koo ka ka!
I am rooted in golden light
my body a temple
filled with the mystic honey, I recite
Beloved Mother,
I have travelled far and wide
through uncharted galaxies
circled a thousand moons
to arrive back here, on this hallowed ground
to breathe my breath
back up to you
Oh Mother Isis! Hear my Call
I have come from a Land of ancient red sand
of shimmering horizons and oceans blue
Flown across all terrains
Bloodlines
Leylines
Songlines
I know
I know, the way through
Koo ka ka!
I know who I am
I am She who serves in the Temple walls
To light the dawn fires
To Welcome the Sun from the Underworld night
I spin magic and brew the cocoa elixirs
And dance to the Goddess and her Holy Rites
I sing
I scribe
I heal
I drum
I make love
I make medicine
I hold
I am alchemist
I am sacred Witness
Sekhem, I am Devotion
Koo ka , I am Love
I yearn for tenderness
I seek the Truth
I bleed magic
I fight and nurture
I dive into the burning salt bush
and remain there in ruins
Until I rise again, reborn from my own ashes
Sekhem, I am Woman
Koo ka ka, I – AM - Woman
Born of the red and golden sands
Sister to the Temple
Woman of the heart
I am Kookaburra Woman
Feathered Priestess
Lotus Dreamer
Guardian of the Mysteries
I emerge again,
arms out
heart open
wide winged
I am Daughter of Isis
my body filled with her golden jewels
I give
I receive
I am a Vessel of Light
A Channel of Love
that too holds the sorrows of night
I am She who heard the Call
I am She who sings the songs of death and birth
Koooo – Ka ka Ka!
Devoted
in service
to all who journey with this blessed earth
